Italy got their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign off to a winning start on Monday night, courtesy of a deserved 3-1 win in Israel.

However, it was the hosts who netted the best goal of the game, with striker Tal Ben Haim (not the ex-Chelsea and Bolton one) produced an exquisite chip which left Gigi Buffon helpless.

Israel were already two goals down, via strikes from Azzurri pair Graziano Pellé and Antonio Candreva (with a penalty) when Maccabi Tel Aviv attacker Ben Haim conjured up a moment of magic, delicately chipping Buffon from the edge of the area…

It’s no mean feat to beat the great Buffon with an effort of that kind of quality!

After the break, Giorgio Chiellini saw red but it was the visitors who would scored the fourth and final goal of the game, with sub Ciro Immobile firing home late on.

However, despite the result, it was Ben Haim’s glorious chip which was the best moment of the game in Tel Aviv.
