On a busy Champions League Tuesday, Thomas Delaney scored the undoubted goal of the night, with the FC Copenhagen midfielder launching an exquisite curling belter into the top corner of the Club Brugge net.
Delaney’s goal came in his side 4-0 home win against Brugge came on 64 minutes, with the hosts already a goal ahead. Stepping onto a headed pass all of 30 yards outside the box, the 25-year-old unleashed an unstoppable first-time effort which swerved deliciously into the Brugge net.

What a strike!
Alas for Republic of Ireland fans sensing a new hero for the Boys in the Green, despite the name, Delaney doesn’t come close to even passing the Irish granny rule with the player’s Irish roots quite distant. Indeed, he’s picked up 11 caps for his native Denmark. What a shame!
