Largely because there’s bugger all else going on this morning, we thought we’d provide you with a welcome break from the close-season monotony.

To that end, here is a 10-minute slab of Zinedine Zidane-flavoured goodness, highlighting the former Juventus and Real Madrid midfielder’s masterful control and footwork.

Basically, it’s an extended highlight reel of Zizou leaving suckers in the dust – and all set, rather pleasingly, to ‘Take On Me’ by A-Ha…

For a relatively tall and brawny player, Zidane always seemed to have the centre of gravity of a man half his height and bulk.

It’s like he was seeing things at a faster frame rate than everybody else on the pitch.

Encroyable.

Didn’t watch this all the way through – didn’t need to really…

It looked like it was the same clip played over and over, though clearly not. Zidane embodied the very cliched phrase, ‘world class’. Had I not managed to watch Maradona at the end of his career (albeit on telly), there would be absolutely no doubt of Zidanes status as the best of a (my) generation.

Fantastic player but just a little bit overrated. I think Iniesta is better and Scholes too.
