As part of their ongoing 120th anniversary celebrations, Juventus tasked their fans with voting for what they believe to be the greatest goal ever scored in the Bianconeri shirt.

The winner, by a country mile, was this little over-the-shoulder number, effortlessly tucked away by a 20-year-old Alessandro Del Piero in December of 1994 – the last-minute winner in a 3-2 victory over Fiorentina.

Pies must have watched that goal 500 times, studying Del Piero’s technique over and over and we’re still not entirely sure how he managed to use the inside of his foot to ‘pass’ the ball into the net at that angle.

Beguiling. No wonder they call it ‘The Impossible Goal’.

The man himself was quick to thank the Juve fans for their ongoing support…

For the record, Claudio Marchisio came in second with his jinky, fleet-footed tap-in against Inter Milan in 2009/10…

Fabrizio Ravanelli completed the podium courtesy of his acute-angle finish against Ajax in the 1995/96 Champions League final…

Honestly, they probably could have just filled the entire Top 20 with Del Piero classics.

Del Piero’s was a great goal (though as a Fiorentina fan I could never get too excited about it), but the other two are spectacularly mediocre given the Old Lady’s long and illustrious history. Off the top of my head I can think of five goals Baggio scored for Juventus that are a million times better.

I can think of five goals Burnley scored in the past few seasons that are better than the other two Juve goals here!

    What pish!

Del Piero, no doubt about that man. Legend.

In fairness, the Ravanelli goal was probably voted on in terms of importance seeing as it paved the way for victory in a Champions League final.

The Marchisio goal is a bit ‘meh’ really – though it was a winning goal against Inter, which definitely counts for something.

Great goal but the greatest? I don’t think so.
