20 Years On, Ronaldo Returns To ‘The Airport’ To Recreate Scene From Classic 1998 Nike World Cup Advert (Video)

A mere 20 years ago, Nike delighted us all in the run-up to the 1998 World Cup by producing what is still regarded as one of the finest football adverts of all time: the classic ‘Brazil at the airport’ yarn.

The commercial saw the star-laden Selecao of ’98 (Ronaldo, Romario, Denilson, Roberto Carlos et al) running amok at Rio de Janeiro airport as the samba-tinged strains of ‘Mas Que Nada’ lilted away in the background.

Two decades on down the like, Nike have bashed out the 2018 edition of their World Cup advert which, among other things, sees Ronaldo return to the airport to faithfully recreate his famous scene from the original…

After setting the marker 20 years ago, Nike have barely put a foot wrong when it comes to their football ads. They may be working on a bigger budget than most, but they always seem to deliver the goods.
