Remove the football and you’d be forgiven for thinking you were watching some kind of ancient Mayan fertility dance…

I’d kicked him in the nuts to be honest.

Try that in the Prem, won’t make it past 3 games before getting crippled

  3. Titus says:

That’s one problem I have with the Prem. Individual flair is frowned upon and in fact almost discouraged. I remember Ronaldo would be castigated as a selfish jerk when he would pull off fancy tricks while he was playing at Man utd. Can you imagine how much more stifled Messi’ game would be if he were playing at for instance Chelsea?

  4. Rick says:

I think I disagree with you Titus. Messi doesnt have a lot of tricks, he is quick and changes direction. you rarely see him attempt step overs or anything. I think Messi would be fine.

  5. Nuno says:

Also have to disagree with Titus. Neymar is just 100% showoff and Ronaldo had his moments too, although a bit more objective. That play is just mocking at the defender, so when Ronaldo also did stepover or just tried to showoff (backheels and such), no wonder sometimes defender get rough on him. I know I would (and yes, this is coming from Portugal).
Messi is more about an unbelievable close control of the ball, even when he’s running at top speed, and I honestly don’t remember him do a stepover in a game, so I also don’t believe he would be that punished in the Prem. If you don’t get too cocky defenders will respect you…

people are obssessed w individual flair while it’s obvious teamwork wins games (spain, barcelona, man united..) try messi without xavi and iniesta.. oh ya btw.. neymar is going to flop so bad cause he only cares about pleasing people and his own ego on winning individual battles than actually winning a football game

… And that’s why Brazil is 5 times (let’s repeat: 5 times!) World Champion… Vice-champs twice.. and England….1?At home?God knows how! … by the way: what Neymar does it’s nothing new… Garrincha (Brazilian) did that back in the 50’s and 60’s, just Google it and you’ll see! Very funny, indeed! And, yep, football is a wonderful sport not just because it’s just a sport, but it’s pleasing to see the skills of good players (or oustanding players) like Ronaldos (the 2 Brazilians and the 1 Portuguese), Pelé, Maradona, Messi, Romário, Rivaldo, Kaká, Robinho, Neymar,Zico,Socrátes,Rivelino, Gérson, Zidane, Figo,Garrincha,Owen,Platini, and so on… Who ever played the game, like myself, even for funn, knows that it’s not mocking the defender, that’s a challenge and it’s part of the game (again), since you keep your mouth shout, obviously! And, let’s face it: it’s EXTREMELLY difficult to do that kind of trick without loosing the possession of the ball!Just amazing!… and finally, please don’t compare Barça and Mtd Utd… it’s just wrong!

  9. WildScotsman6 says:

If defenders would just maintain disciplined stand-up defending instead of diving in and getting drawn into their show off antics.. it wouldn’t be an issue. He’d look like a fool dancin about going nowhere….

  10. Magin Argueta says:

Premier league defensive players would not be able to stop Neymar. They can barely stop Liverpool’s Suarez. Neymar would leave them looking the other way. The “jogo bonito” is why I love soccer!

  11. Luke says:

@LimaNeto, I have never seen Owen do ‘skills’

  12. Anonymous says:

why are people disturbed unnecessarily about Neymar’s egoistic football….the young boy has a lot of time ahead to loose all that selfish-kind of play….Ronaldo for instance is becoming more of a team player…besides if a winger does not do such you’ll probably not take notice of him

  13. pablo says:

toying with the mental well-being of defenders is a pastime in Brazil. it’s not frowned upon there, its almost a necessity… the gloating sadistic ritualistic humiliation of defenders is pretty much the norm there, almost the same as we in England love to cheer a defensive clearance that goes out for a throw in to the opposition (it happens, far too often…)

Neymar has some moves, I’ll give him that, but i would put him on his arse if he attempted that shit near me…

  14. Squillaci says:

Gervinho hogs up the ball like in every game , He waits to be crowded with defenders so he beat them to assist that that Van Persie fella
