A 3-0 win over Banfield at La Bombanera yesterday saw Boca Juniors secure their 24th Argentinian League title and their first for three years, with the three points giving them an unassailable eleven-point lead at the top of the Apertura championship with only two games left to play – cue the madness…

I’d steer clear of Bueno Aires for the next few days if you plan on getting anything done.

So I understand the Argentina league, you can win the championship twice every year ?

  2. Johann says:

in Argentina, we have an openning and a closing championship. as a Boca Juniors fan, I’m very happy. I hope Falcioni doesn’t leave to Europe. At least until Boca wins the Libertadores

    ….Didn’t Boca get relegated sorry?

  4. Questionable says:

I was actually in Buenos Aires during the first half of the season. Boca runs that town at the moment. Im a river plate fan myself but the party never stops in Buenos Aires

Is there a play-off between the apertura champions and the closing ones ?

    It’s really like there’s 2 championships a year

  6. Ventilan says:

Australien – That was River Plate, Boca’s archrivals.

  7. Martin says:

The team relegated was River Plate, Boca Juniors is too big for that.

PS: There’s no play-off between the Clausura and Apertura champions… It’s a good idea, but the AFA just made it in 1991, the first year of this strange format.

PS2: Excuse me for my english, it’s really bad.

  8. Martin says:

    * When I wrote “the AFA just made it in 1991”, I must say “the AFA only made it in 1991”.
