CD Puerto Montt tussled their way to an impressive 2-1 away win over Coquimbo Unido in the Chilean second tier on Sunday, no doubt roared on by their travelling support.

We are, of course, talking specifically about the one and only hardy Puerto Montt ultra who made the gargantuan 3,000km round-trip to watch the match at Coquimbo’s Estadio Bicentenario all on his lonesome…

Puerto Montt definitely owe a debt of gratitude to that chap.

He made one holy hell of a trek to watch his hometown club in action…

No wonder the Puerto Montt players were moved to thank their anonymous hero after the match…

“This triumph is for you, thank you for trusting us and following us here no matter what. You left everything for your team!”

Could’ve at least offered him a lift home on the team bus, but hey ho.

Loco Abreu, who scored the decisive penalty for Uruguay against Ghana in 2010, is currently playing for Puerto Montt as a striker. He’s 41.
