Reading 2-1 Sunderland – Premier League – 2nd February 2013
Mali forward Jimmy Kebe was the star of the show at the Madejski on Saturday, with he Reading star netting twice as the Royals secured a vital 2-1 win against Sunderland.
Reading started superbly and were a goal up after just seven minutes when Kebe fired home from a Jobi McAnuff pass. It was all Reading now but then on the half-hour mark, Sunderland had a chance to level the scores when Pavel Pogrebnyak felled John O’Shea in the box. Craig Gardner duly converted the spot-kick to make it 1-1.
The visitors improved after the break with new-boy Danny Graham, amongst others, going close on more than one occasion. However, with just five minutes to go, Kebe popped up again, heading home from an Ian Harte free-kick to give the Royals a vital three points.
Reading are now two points clear of the danger while Sunderland are now 12th.
