Chris Coleman is set to take over at Championship strugglers Sunderland, with the 47-year-old stepping down from his role as Welsh boss.

A statement from the Welsh FA on Friday confirmed the news…

Coleman succeeded the late Gary Speed as Wales manager in 2012, and took his side all the way to the semi-finals of Euro 2016, where they lost to eventual champions Portugal.

However, Wales failed to book their place in the 2018 World Cup finals, finishing third in Group D behind Serbia and the Republic of Ireland.

Coleman will now take over at Sunderland, succeeding Simon Grayson who was fired after the Black Cats plummeted to the bottom of the Championship following their relegation from the top-flight.

While Coleman now faces a huge challenge at the Stadium of Ligh, Ryan Giggs and West Brom boss Tony Pulis are the two favourites to take over in the Welsh hot-seat. And they are some big boots to fill.
