“Sir, please take off your shoes, your belt and your many scarves… oh, and the rest of your clothes too… now bend over.”
Gio dos Santos was welcomed to new club Galatasaray like a hero, as seems to be the way in Turkish football. And hell, if Darius Vassell gets the red-carpet treatment, then GDS just about deserves it too. Not that he did much – anything, in fact – in his time at Tottenham to warrant such blind enthusiasm.
If the loan move to Galatasaray works out, there’s a good chance Spurs will encourage the Turks to make the deal permanent; I don’t think Arry Redknapp fancies young Gio, and who can blame him?
Still, I suppose Gio is barely out of his teens, so it’s a bit too early to write him off – maybe Frank Rijkaard, his old gaffer at Barcelona, will get the best out of him.
