Classic Horror Tackles: Terry Fenwick On Garth Crooks, 1982 FA Cup Final
By Ollie Irish
Boy, how football has changed. These days, Motty would be shrieking about a straight red, and the tabloids would be calling for Fenwick to be banned for five years for a potential career-ending tackle.
Back then though, you took it in your stride and retaliated with a kick of your own. It’s almost comical that Crooks is the one who is rounded on and then booked, for little more than a petulant kick, when Fenwick’s two-footed power lunge was the villain of the piece.
Ah, nostalgia for more brutal days.
