Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace - White Hart Lane

Ahead of his move to Canada, striker Jermain Defoe scored his 143rd goal for Spurs as they battled to a 2-0 win against a resilient Palace side. Indeed, the Eagles should’ve been ahead in the first-half, only for Jason Puncheon to sky his spot-kick after Marouane Chamakh had been felled in the box. However, after the break the home side improved and were eventually rewarded with goals from Christian Eriksen and Defoe. The results sees Tim Sherwood’s resurgent Lilywhites go fifth while Palace are bottom.
