Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 Sunderland – Premier League – 7th April 2014
Tim Sherwood may well be on his way out of White Hart Lane in the summer but the Spurs manager will still have enjoyed his side’s 5-1 mauling of strugglers Sunderland on Monday night.
Emmanuel Adebayor bagged a brace, with Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Gulfi Sigurdsson also getting on the scoresheet for the Lilywhites. However, it was the unlikely figure of Lee Cattermole who netted the first goal of the game, scoring after some dawdling by the Tottenham backline. But that goal was the only piece of joy the Black Cats would get out of the game as they produced yet another woeful display which sees them seven points away from safety and surely destined for the drop.
