Tottenham battered Greek side Asteras Tripolis at White Hart Lane on Thursday night in a game which saw Eric Lamela score one of the best goals in recent memory and Harry Kane bag a hat-trick before having a rather unsuccessful stint between the posts.

It was Kane who opened the scoring on 13 minutes with a fine drive before Lamela scored an incredible ‘rabona’ goal which stunned the White Hart Lane crowd.

The Argentinan would eventually bag a brace in the game with Kane getting a hat-trick in a game where the visitors threatened sporadically but never really threatened the Lilywhites. However, the Greeks did get a goal back courtesy of a free-kick from Jeronimo Barrales. That goal came about after Hugo Lloris was sent off for a last-man tackle, leaving stand-in ‘keeper to face the subsequent free-kick, which he somehow let slip past and into the Spurs goal.

It was an odd ending to the game but one which  puts the hosts second in Group C, equal on points with leaders Besiktas.
