Crystal Palace 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur – Premier League – 10th January 2015

Alan Pardew celebrated his first game in charge of Crystal Palace with a fine comeback win against Spurs at Selhurst Park.

Glenn Murray missed a great chance to put the Eagles ahead in the first-half but it took until the 49th minute for the deadlock to be broken, courtesy of a fine finish from Harry Kane. That strike made it an impressive 18 goals in all competitions for the striker but after going behind, the Eagles stayed positive and would be rewarded on 69 minutes.

The equaliser, courtesy of a Dwight Gayle penalty, came after Benjamin Stambouli fouled Joe Ledley in the box, and soon after things got even better for Pardew and co. With the Selhurt faithful roaring their side on, Wilfried Zaha produced a great run on the left-side, setting up Jason Puncheon, who fired past Hugo Lloris to secure a precious victory for the south Londoners.

The win, which highlighted the power and pace in Crystal Palace’s attack, sees Pardew’s men go 15th, a point clear of danger. Tottenham, on the other hand, failed to close the gap on the top four.
