£22million man  Son Heung-min bagged a brace on his home debut as Tottenham ran out deserved 3-1 winners against Azerbaijan side Qarabag.

The visitors took and early lead, with Richard Almeida firing home a penalty after new-boy Kieran Trippier fouled Ansi Agolli in the box.

The hosts pushed for a quickfire equaliser and the goal eventually came, on 28 minutes. Son was the scorer, with the attacker prodding home from close-range.

Just two minutes later, Son netted again, this time after good work from the impressive Dele Alli.

While the Lilywhites were impressing in attack, at the back they looked shaky. Indeed, Qarabag forward Afran Ismayilov could’ve had at least one goal after some poor defending from the hosts.

Eric Lamela had hit the post soon after the restart but eventually the Argentine wingman did get himself on the scoresheet with five minutes to go, courtesy of a chipped effort.

The two-goal performance of Son along with a vibrant and creative display from Alli will have pleased Mauricio Pochettino. However, the Spurs’ boss will be less impressed by some of his side’s defending.

Worst time possible to get cramp for that third Spurs goal!

Nice to see Son Heung-min getting off to a great start, good luck to him in the Premiership. Kane needs some competition.
