Chelsea won a goal-packed FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham on Saturday, with a Nemanja Matic stunner helping the Blues to an entertaining 4-2 win against their metropolitan rivals.

Antonio Conte left both Eden Hazard and Diego Costa on the bench but still saw his side take the lead after just five minutes, with Willian scoring via a pinpoint free-kick.

Spurs fought back and found themselves level on 18 minutes, with Harry Kane deftly heading home from a Christian Eriksen centre.

However, Chelsea would end the half 2-1 up, with Willian netting his second of the game from the penalty spot, after Son Heung-Min brought down Victor Moses in the box.

In the second period, Tottenham continued to threaten Thibaut Courtois’ goal and eventually they got themselves level again. This time Dele Alli was scorer for the Lilywhites, courtesy of a fine close-range strike from an outstanding pass from Eriksen.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were now dominating possession. However, just after the hour-mark, Conte sent on both Hazard and Costa.

With 15 minutes to go, the changes paid off for the Blues, with an unmarked Hazard netting after a corner.

Any chances Spurs had of once again getting back into the game were then snuffed out when Nemanja Matic produced a wonder-strike on 80 minutes with his left foot which rocketed in off the bar and killed off the game.

The north Londoners did almost get one back at the death, only for Courtois to stop Kane’s free-kick going over the line after initially fumbling the strike.

The win ends Tottenham’s hopes of a double but leaves Conte very much in the hunt for both the league and cup titles in his first season.

The jubilant Blues will face the winners of Sunday’s semi-final between Manchester City and Arsenal in the final on Saturday, May 27th.
