Tottenham closed the gap back to four points at the top of the Premier League table after a Christian Eriksen strike gave them a hard-fought victory at Selhurst Park.

Tottenham struggled to breakdown a resilient Palace side on the night, who themselves rarely threatened Hugo Lloris’ goal.

The visitors were lucky not to go down to 10 men in the first period when Victor Wanyama, already on a yellow card, slid in on Andros Townsend. However, referee Jon Moss controversially decided not to brandish another card.

The Eagles were dealt a blow in the second-half when Liverpool-loanee Mamadou Sakho to injury.

The one and only goal of the game would eventually come on 78 minutes, with Eriksen producing a superb long-range strike which left Wayne Hennessey in the Palace goal with no chance.

The win sees Spurs extend their winning streak to eight games as they keep the pressure on Chelsea at the top of the table.

As for Palace, they stay 12th, seven points clear of the drop-zone.

Sakho played really well for Palace since he joined them.

    He was rubbish for Liverpool.

I can’t see him going back permanently.

    Maybe back to France?
