On a memorable night at Wembley, Tottenham produced a superb display to down Euro champs Real Madrid to move into the last 16 of the competition.

Harry Kane started but it was Dele Alli who would be the match-winner for the Lilywhites, with the midfielder, back from suspension, netting a brace.

Spurs started superbly and found themselves a goal up on 27 minutes, with Alli netting from close-range after a Kieran Trippier centre.

Real struggled to get to grips with their Premier League hosts and went 2-0 down after the break, via another Alli effort which deflected in off Sergio Ramos.

Kane then set up Christian Eriksen to seal the deal for Spurs who were simply too good for a sloppy Madrid side.

Cristiano Ronaldo did get one back late on, his 10th against Tottenham.

However, Spurs were well worth the win which sees them ease into the knockout stages and announce themselves as a major European force this season.

As for Zinedine Zidane’s side, they brought their disappointing domestic form with them to Wembley and were second best throughout, although they are still well placed to join Tottenham in the last 16.
