Tottenham have confirmed the extent of Harry Kane’s injury, announcing that the striker will be out for about a month with ankle ligament damage.

Kane lasted just 34 minutes of Spurs’ 4-1 away win over Bournemouth at the weekend before he crumpled under a challenge from Cherries’ goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

As such, Kane is certain to miss England’s dual-header of friendlies against the Netherlands and Italy later this month, with upcoming Spurs’ fixtures against Chelsea and Man City also looking decidedly iffy in terms of rehabilitation time.

At least Spurs still have Heung Min Son firing on all cylinders. England, on the other hand, are pretty much bollocksed.

no point in playing kane in the friendlies anyway. everyone knows he’s one of the best strikers in the world and is the first name on the sheet – probably captain too. we all know what he can do, what left is there to learn? might as well pick a few outsiders and give them a chance in 2 games, see what they can do. someone might stand out who would have never been in contention before. (shelvy, lascelles, rashford as striker, muguire cb, nick pope – give a few lads a run, see what happens).
