Quite unbelievably, it would appear that Cardiff City are going to attempt an appeal over the red card shown to Joe Ralls during Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham.

Ralls was sent off on the hour mark for clattering Lucas Moura with a thigh-high lunge to prevent the Spurs winger from breaking down the touchline.

While the midfielder didn’t go in with his studs, he still ended up poleaxing his opponent with a cynical and rather agricultural trip.

Speaking after the game, Neil Warnock said that he thought Ralls’ tackle “wasn’t dangerous” and that the decision to dismiss his player was “wrong”.

The Cardiff manager also complained that Mike Dean had been “influenced” into showing a red card for a tackle that he would ordinarily only issue a yellow for “nine times out of ten”.

According to The Sun, the Bluebirds are preparing to appeal the three-match ban given to Ralls on the basis that they do not believe his challenge on Moura constituted serious foul play.

Okay. Good luck with that one, chaps.
