A little bit of positive news on this dreek and dreary day: Glenn Hoddle is recovering well from the heart attack he suffered at the tail end of October.

Hoddle collapsed at the BT Sport studio and was rushed to hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

A member of the BT staff, Simon Daniels, used a defibrillator on the Tottenham legend at the scene, which has since been credited as a potentially live-saving act.

Last we heard, Hoddle was still in hospital and receiving specialist treatment.

However, the family have since issued an update via a spokesperson, and the news is good:

After being taken ill on Saturday 27th October, Glenn received specialist care at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London.

To aid his recovery from a cardiac arrest, Glenn underwent surgery. He responded well to treatment and is now at home recuperating from the procedure.

The care that Glenn received from St Bartholomew’s Hospital was exemplary. His family would like to thank the hospital staff and the many people who have sent supportive messages.

Doctors have outlined that rest is paramount for Glenn now. With that in mind, his family ask politely that their privacy is respected and that Glenn is given time to recover fully.

Which, it goes without saying, is excellent to hear.

Here’s wishing Glenn and his family all the best as he continues with his rehab.
