In Pictures: Inter 4-3 Tottenham – Gareth Bale Hat-Trick Salvages Pride For Spurs

By Ollie Irish

When Inter stormed to a 4-0 lead after just 35 minutes – a lead that was made all the easier to build when Heurelho Gomes was sent off after just ten minutes, for a foul on Jonathan Biabiany – it seemed that Tottenham’s Champions League dream was about to turn into a vivid 90-minute nightmare of epic proportions. But the Italians eased down (phew), and then the incredible Gareth Bale stepped up to notch a second-half hat-trick that salvaged a good deal of pride for Spurs, and added a good £10-15m to Bale’s value; that boy is a bit special.

Still, the beauty of the group format is that you can afford to have a couple of bad results. With Rafael van der Vaart set to return for Inter’s visit to the Lane (his experience was sorely missed in the San Siro), hopefully things will turn out rather differently then.

nice player that bale, but because he’s welsh, which means half english, we in continental europe will always think he’s shit. i can’t see him darting defenders in serie a or la liga. last night was an isolated incident.

  2. stuart says:

i hate the way that people are saying how this performance has added £m onto Bales value, we shouldn’t be looking to sell him at all!

  3. Daisy Raskil says:

Yeah dont sell him. Could you imagine if he was english?

He’d be the greatest thing since sliced bread. The typical english commentators would be spunking over him now and banging up the value of him.

And they would definitely win the next world cup!!!!! ha ha ha ha ha

    Best left foot in Britain.

Great player, nice lad, not english! Yesssssssssssss

  4. Ted Balls says:

Yep, so we’ll never see him play in a major international tournament at all…

  5. Tinez says:

deckard, if you think what bale did is isolated youve got no idea
