Tottenham gaffer Harry Redknapp has admitted he would be interested in taking charge of the Great Britain football team at the 2012 Olympics in London.

Reports suggest Arry is the favourite to manage what would be an English-only side (no Gareth Bale or Aaron Ramsey, alas). Stuart Pearce’s name has also been mentioned.

Redknapp said today he had no idea whether the British Olympic Association were considering him for the job but revealed he would be up for it. Triffic.

“Of course: anybody would be (interested), wouldn’t they?” said Arry, twitching furiously.

“But, suddenly, it’s ‘Harry wants to be manager of whatever’.

“Never at any stage has it entered my mind… I don’t know who selects it, how it gets selected.”

Alex Ferguson was approached for the role, but with Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland churlishly refusing to provide players for the GB team, that is not gonna happen.
