Solid win for Spurs, even if all three goals came in the last half hour. Highlights below:

Lovely finish by Pavlyuchenko (most unlike him: he usually shins it over the bar), followed up by a Corluka tap-in and a composed run-and-finish by ickle Jermain Defoe.
But perhaps the best news for Tottenham fans was the debut made by Sebastien Bassong. The Frenchman, signed from Newcastle Utd earlier this month, looked very solid at the back, prompting Arry Radknapp to deliver this eulogy:
“He looked so composed. He’s quick, he’s strong, he’s great in the air. He’s an emerging young talent, I think, who could go on to be a top, top player.
“He’s a real good defender and he did everything today we all felt he could do. We’ve all got great confidence in him. Everybody I spoke to at Newcastle, on the staff and people that have played there whose judgment I can trust, were all of the same opinion, that he’s a great lad and a top player in the making. So we’re well pleased to have him.”

Hear that? Not just pleased, but “well pleased”. Sweet.

Hear that; the Toon’s judgement CAN be trusted – he just obviously didn’t come to us when he needed advice on avoiding the drop… :oP

Isn’t Bassong suspended for the first game??

  4. David Allison says:

The Fantasy Premier League site has him as being unavailable through suspension, but Redknapp says that as he was registered as a Spuds player AFTER Newcastle played WBA, he has now served his 2-game ban (with the other game being Newcastle’s last game of last season).
