One to watch: Didier Zokora, Tottenham Hotspur
The 25-year-old Ivory Coast midfielder, signed from St Etienne by Tottenham last month (yeah, like they’re short of midfielders), played every minute of his country’s recent World Cup campaign. Man Utd were apparently looking at Zokora as a possible Roy Keane replacement, but that deal never happened and now he’s ended up in north London. Zokora has the proverbial ‘great engine’ and is a fine tackler and passer. He reminds me a little of a young Claude Makelele, although he’s not so defensive-minded as the Frenchman. Another shrewd signing by Big Martin Jol.
