For a number of seasons now, the fleet-footed Belgian wing-wonder that is Eden Hazard has been linked with a move to Arsenal, enticed by the presence of Arsene Wenger and the Gunners’ trademark sexy football.

However, that move, which let’s face it, would’ve probably ended in tears once Barcelona had started playing with his mind, is now looking less and less likely to happen – with none other than high-flying Totttenham reported to be in the driving seat for the 21-year-old’s signature.

With Harry Redknapp’s side looking comfortable in third spot in the table and playing some exceedingly sexy football themselves, Hazard is now looking to the white half of north London.

In a recent interview on Belgian channel RTBF, he said:

“Maybe it will be Tottenham. It is a great English club. I said that I would go to England and there is very good players [at Spurs]. I have not yet signed, this is going to happen soon.”

With pretty much every heavyweight Premier League club in the hunt for Hazard, a move to Spurs is anything but certain. However, even the fact that the winger is mentioning Tottenham as a viable destination is sure to irk Arsenal fans, frustrated at the failure of Arsene Wenger to splash the cash on at least one big-money signing.

I can see it now, Tottenham spend around £40million on Hazard in the summer while Arsenal wait until the final hours of August 31st to bring in ‘value for money’ Matthew Etherington for an ‘undisclosed fee’ (of around 50p).

Hazard will be this summer’s longest transfer saga. Not yet fully proven it for me at the very highest level (Champions League in which Lille were poor) and the national team, he has scored one goal for them (away to Kazakhstan)in 25 games.

There’s no doubting the potential is there and possibly a good move for him ahead of a third career move to R. Madrid/Barca/Manchester City or United/Inter Milan.

Arsene wenger, stands as much chance of signing Eden Hazard,as i do
climbing MOUNT EVEREST,in a tee shirt and a pair of trainers,in fact i think i would stand the better chance, once they ask for more than
£5,000,000,Wenger starts losing interest, “IF YOU WANT TO KEEP UP WITH THE BIG BOY’S ARSENE, GET YOUR CHEQUE BOOK OUT”.UP THE GUNNERS.

And I can see Spurs winning fuck all with Hazard, maybe we win fuck all as well, but we definitely won’t go into administration like Rangers did.
There is no player in the world worth 40 million £ !

@mikisk: I think there are players worth that much, but only Messi and Ronaldo. C-Ron’s price seemed absolutely obscene, but then again, he’s scored 120 goals in 122 appearances, and 93 league goals in 85 games, so I’d say he’s been with the money, if you combine goals, shirt, and replica kit sales.

Theres no way Spurs will go into administration not with all of Arry’s dog’s money in Monaco.

Now paying £40 mil for a £15 mil player, thats Liverpool’s game is it not?

  7. NLKB says:

Hazard is the new Neymar, a tease of the highest order.

First he said he wanted to go to Madrid. Then he set his sights on the PL. And now Spurs? If that were true, I suppose Spurs intend to raise the funds by selling Bale?

Gut feeling says that Hazard, Neymar and any other “world class” player ends up at either Barca or RM. Sadly, PL teams will have to live off the scraps.

  8. Scott says:

What about when Adebayor goes back to City and sold off elsewhere? Having a legitimate striker has been a big reason of the rise of Spurs. Ade will fetch around 20 or so and Hazard would cost around 40, not to mention the wage bill of Bale, Modric, Ade, Hazard, VdV. It will take a financial expert to wheel and deal that one. Arsenal won;t get him either, frankly. Just spent 15 on Gervinho, 13 on Oxlade-Chambo, already have Walcott. Sure, Hazard is probably a better player than those three. But, it wouldn’t make sense to splash that much money on a player where Arsenal have depth. Spend that money on a world-class central MF playmaker.
