    Shouldn’t he be playing for Newcastle?

  2. Steve says:

    €14-million? Yikes. This guy screams of being David Odonkor v2.0

    His claim to fame will forever be when Xavi (or was it Iniesta?) made a galaxy-class pass to his toe and he poked it past Buffon and I bet that will be the end of him.

  3. Martin says:

    Did you watch Euros, Steve? Have you ever bothered watching Valencia either? Alba is exactly what they need at Barca, especially with Abidal getting older. Alba meshes very well with that system–and why wouldn’t he? He was raised in it!

  4. Dave says:

    Steve, don’t be an idiot.

  5. Philipp says:

    Very nice guerilla marketing by adidas. sure he didn’t make a lot of friend with the nike guys, haha

  6. Steve says:

    @Martin
    @Dave

    I’m speculating and that is always risky. Either I’ll be right, wrong, both or neither. I just don’t see what is so €14-million about this guy.

    Alba is a great fit for Barca – a replacement for Abidol who can play perfectly well on the wing if Abidol is miraculously able to return, a Catalan who came up in the Barca system and knows the players and the system. Any prospect can go wrong, but Barca’s track record with players who came up in the club is pretty damn good.

    Aw, c’mon….Newcastle, Geordie (jordi), etc etc etc….

  9. Si says:

    @Steve – good lord, you really know nothing about world football, do you?

    @ Steve

    I wouldn’t expect a man named Steve to watch La Liga but surely you watched the Euros apart from just the final game? Could have easily won player of the tourney, and Barcelona locked him down him way before his Euro performance…

    Thank you both. In different contexts, you have said exactly what I said about Alba except you say it about me. You can also join me in the ‘idiot’ category.

    The odds that I am right; he is a flop, and the odds that you are wrong; he isn’t a flop, are IMMENSELY in my favor. The amount of players who fail are much higher than those who succeed. Yes, fail and succeed are totally subjective, I’ll admit, but that doesn’t matter right now. What matters is that I express an opinion and get slammed and yet you all have absolutely no idea how he’ll pan out at Barca either. Nor do I, but I’m at least constructive about it. You guys just get drool all over your hands while typing.

    Steve is actually Arsene Wenger’s online name so don’t be suprised that anyone over 70p is seen as not good value.

  13. V says:

    Steve, for all your eloquentness, you’re clueless. In one year he’ll be considered one of the best left backs in the world.
