For those of you who missed the news yesterday, Manchester City signed Richard Wright on a one-year deal to provide cover for Joe Hart and Costel Pontoonpokemon and bump up their English squad quota by one – which was slightly surprising as a couple of months ago Wright joined Preston only to request his contract be terminated after just one week at Deepdale due to homesickness.

Speaking on July 6th, Wright said:

“It might seem somewhat dramatic, but I have only been away from my home in East Anglia for a few days and I know already that I simply cannot live that far away from my family.

“I have children settled in school, so moving isn’t an option. I think it is only fair to be honest now rather than down the line when the Club may not be able to solve the problem that I am creating.”

Now, it’$ fairly obviou$ a$ to why Wright has been able to overcome hi$ home$sickne$$ thi$ time around, as the scholarly among you may have noticed that Manchester is indeed a whole 30 miles south of Preston – meaning that the good people over at Off The Post have been able to accurately map the exact lay of the ‘Richard Wright Homesickness Threshold’ for future generations to refer to…

Superb.
