Leeds United manager Simon Grayson claimed today that star striker Jermaine Beckford has agreed to join Everton at the end of the current season.

Beckford, whose Leeds contract expires this summer, recently withdrew a request to leave Elland Road in the January transfer window, perhaps because he realised that leaving a promotion-chasing club mid-term is not a good look.

Now, according to Grayson, Beckford has signed a pre-contract to move to Everton, although the manager also suggested that Beckford might yet end up at a bigger club than Everton, depending on his form between now and May.

“Pre-contract agreements aren’t binding, so both parties could pull out at any time,” Grayson told The Sun.

“If he bangs in another 20 goals, there might be bigger teams than Everton coming in for him.”

Steady on, Simon – I think Everton is more than big enough for Beckford.

My mum could score 30 goals in League 1. Don’t know where this guys gets off thinking he’s the best striker in the land.

He’s a League One Andy Cole as well, playing for a team who are too good for that league, who make a shitload of chances. For everyone he scores he misses two easy ones, I have no idea what Moyes sees in him, I guess if Saha is moving on this summer then Beckford could play an impact sub role, and would be a lot cheaper too.

He will be a back up at best. I reckon that Moyes signed him and will waste him away in the reserves for being such a moron!
