Sanogo almost hit the post

What with being on the very brink of signing for Arsenal after passing a medical at The Emirates and all, it’s only right that Auxerre striker Yaya Sanogo should sell himself hard to help push the deal over the line.

However, the 20-year-old France U21 international appears to be doing exactly the opposite, telling all and sundry about his long-standing injury problems and how he was all but ready to quit the game entirely a year or so ago after suffering a broken tibia (on top of a slew of other injuries) that kept him out for the majority of 2010/11 season.

“I told my mum that because of my injuries I wanted to quit,” Sanogo is quoted as saying in the Metro. “I told her that I was ready to give up and go and work for her post office.”

SOLD! To the club with the famously efficient rehabilitation department.
