“Go to your room, you’re grounded…”
As you’re no doubt aware, Gareth Bale has been playing truant this week after returning from a weekend in Marbella, failing to turn up to training for two consecutive days despite Tottenham expecting him to return to the club on Tuesday morning.
Instead, Bale was photographed meeting his agent in London dressed up like a giant engorged penis…
Look at the state of that. Anyway, we digress…
Andres Villas Boas’ press conference today was always likely to be interested, but asked whether or not he felt Bale should be punished for his conduct this week, the Spurs manager replied, ”I don’t think it’s correct behaviour,” adding that the club are currently considering whether or not to fine the Welsh truant:
“He is involved in a big transfer move to Real Madrid and in the end if it happens, we wish him all the best, but the fact that he hasn’t turned up is not the correct behaviour.
“That is the position [Bale] chose to take and it’s up to the club to decide if it’s a fineable offence. I gave the player the weekend off, Monday was a day off for the squad.”
AVB also gave what we think may be the first verbal confirmation that Bale is due to be sold to Real Madrid over the coming days, admitting that this summer’s most tedious transfer is now due to go through “very soon”.
“He is involved in a big transfer move to Real Madrid and in the end if it happens, we wish him all the best,” AVB said. ”It could happen very, very soon.”
We, quite honestly, can’t wait for all this end.
