It appears that Tottenham might be one of the clubs hoping to tempt Demba Ba into a loan deal.

Hull and Everton are the two teams in the running to sign Shane Long from West Brom.

*****

Both the BBC and MARCA are reporting that Demba Ba has passed a medical at Arsenal, though several other clubs have expressed an interest in signing the Chelsea striker.

OFFICIAL: Wee Barry Bannan has moved from Aston Villa to Crystal Palace on a three-year deal. React to this as you see fit…

Shay Given may still be the subject of a late loan bid from Liverpool, who want to sign the exiled Villa keeper as back-up for Simon Mignolet because Brad Jones is a bit…well, he’s a bit “Brad Jones”. According to Liverpool Echo reporter Neil Jones, Liverpool are going to try and leave it late.

*****

OFFICIAL: Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has told Sky Italia that goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano has passed his medical at Arsenal and has joined the Premier League side on a £1million year-long loan. The deal also includes an option to buy for €6million at the end of the season.

OFFICIAL: Stephen Ireland has joined Stoke from Villa on a year’s loan…

Wales Online are reporting that Peter Odemwingie to Cardiff City is now a done deal, with £2.5million being slung West Brom’s way.

*****

The Guardian are reporting that Everton have rejected a £15million bid from Manchester United for Leighton Baines.

*****

It’s yet to be verified by either club, but it’s being reported that Mesut Ozil is now an Arsenal player. Twitter has it that the fee was £40million, the contract is five years and the wages are £130,000-a-week which makes Ozil both Arsenal’s record signing and highest earner in one fell swoop.

*****

L’Equipe are going big with the story that PSG are currently beavering away in an effort to nab Juan Mata away from Chelsea before the deadline passes at 11pm. There are also a few rumours going round that Liverpool had a £30million bid rejected by Chelsea earlier in the day.

According to a couple of Merseyside-based #ITK journos, Marouane Fellaini is currently en route to Manchester to undergo a medical at Carrington/Old Trafford/wherever United conduct their medicals.

*****

The abroadish loan signing Swansea are hovering over has been revealed to be Getafe striker Alvaro Vazquez, about whom we know precisely nothing. Zip.

*****

QPR are reportedly in talks with Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Chris Baird, Niko Kranjcar and Spurs young’n Tom Carroll.  ‘Arry’s getting the band back together!

*****

Michael Laudrup has once again confirmed that Swansea are looking to sign one more player “from abroad” on “a loan deal with an option” over the course of the next few hours, but the dirty flirty won’t give us anymore than that.

*****

Manchester United are in the process of triggering Ander Herrera’s €36million buy-out clause – a deal which, providing it goes through, could break United’s transfer record (£30.75million for Dimitar Berbatov in 2008) depending on what exchange rate the club get.

Seems like an awful lot of money for him to us, but then what the heck do we know about the price of cheese?

*****

Stoke are hoping to take Stephen Ireland from Aston Villa on a season-long loan. Perfect time to revisit this photo then.

*****

Everton are chasing Wigan’s James McCarthy HARD. The Toffees have come in with an improved offer after seeing a £10million opener knocked back this morning. According to Wigan Evening Post journo Paul Kendrick, McCarthy has not reported for training today and is not with Ireland either having mysteriously been given today off some reason…

*****

According to ITV Sport, West Brom have made an approach for QPR keeper Julio Cesar, who has been consistently linked with a return to Serie A all summer.

*****

Arsenal are letting Bayern Munich’s club doctor, the impossibly German-sounding Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohfahrt, conduct Ozil’s medical (in Germany) on their behalf – which sounds like madness to us!

Expect a late, derailing bid from Bayern at about 10pm tonight.

*****

Former BBC Sport reporter (now freelance) James Pearce is claiming that Mike Ashley let Yohan Cabaye listen in to phone negotiations with Arsenal last week and overheard Arsenal say “£25million is a lot for a reserve”, which has supposedly put the French midfielder right off a move to The Emirates.

Make of that what thou willst.

*****

Guardian reporter David Hytner is reporting that the offer on the table from Arsenal for Mesut Ozil is worth £46million.

*****

Sky Sports News are reporting that West Brom are in talks with Sunderland over a move for Stephane Sessegnon and with Everton over Victor Anichebe.

*****

OFFICIAL: Liverpool have announced the signing of Victor Moses on a one-year loan deal from Chelsea at a cost of around £1.5million…

*****

OFFICIAL: West Brom have completed the signing of 28-year-old winger Morgan Amalfitano on a season-long loan from Marseille with the obligatory “view to a permanent deal” tacked on for good measure.

*****

According to several papers (the Mail in particular), Arsenal have agreed a £3million pay-off deal with Nicklas Bendtner in order to finally shunt him out of the door. Crystal Palace are favourites to secure the Dane’s “services”.

*****

West Brom have given Peter Odemwingie permission to speak to Cardiff, with “permission’ being the operative word!

*****

OFFICIAL: Mamadou Sakho is a Liverpool player…

*****

PSG are rumoured to have contacted Shinji Kagawa’s agent vis-a-vis a cheeky loan move to the French capital. According to dubious Twitter sources, the Japanese midfielder flew out to Paris last night after being left out of Manchester United’s matchday squad for the Liverpool game.

Is operation #freeShinji go, go, go?

We’ll start with a shotgun round-up of the morning’s gossip: Arsenal are apparently plotting to get through a shed-load of late business with deals for Mesut Ozil, Angel Di Maria (no-one can seem to make there mind up if either is a permanent or loan signing), Fiorentina keeper Emiliano Viviano, Julian Draxler from Schalke and Demba Ba from Chelsea all said to be in the offing today.

Tottenham are rumoured to be chasing Fabio Coentrao on loan but Real Madrid are dragging their heels.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp wants to take Spurs pair Emmanuel Adebayor and Benoit Assou-Ekotto on loan.

Sunderland are close to finalising a loan deal for Liverpool’s Fabio Borini and are also attempting to tie up a similar deal for Napoli full-back Andrea Dossena.

*****

OFFICIAL: Kaka has rejoined AC Milan from Real Madrid on a two-year deal and will wear the no.22 shirt at the Rossoneri once again. The Brazilian cost Madrid over €1million per game during his four seasons at the Bernabeu.
