After several days of faffing, it would appear that Liverpool are finally closing in on securing a £16million deal for Ukrainian winger Yevhen Konoplyanka of Dnipro.
It’s being mooted that the Reds have shaken hands on a five-year, £95,000-a-week for the man that pretty much no-one had heard of at the start of the week and are now in the process of tying up the loose ends.
It was rumoured that Tottenham had also expressed a late interest in Konoplyanka and had hoped to muscle in on the deal after losing out to Chelsea in the race to sign Mohamed Salah but, speaking at his Friday press conference, Tim Sherwood has since admitted that his side have a “zero percent chance” of upstaging the Reds when asked if Spurs would be making any more dabbles in the transfer market this month.
