Juventus Target One Of Three Arsenal Players

You pays your money, you takes your choice

The Daily Mail reckon Juventus will let Felipe Melo join Arsenal in the summer but only if The Gunners sweeten the deal by allowing one of three players move in the opposite direction.

The Brazilian midfielder hasn’t enjoyed a vintage season in Turin since joining from Fiorentina for £21 million last summer and the Bianconeri are willing to cash in – but only if Arsenal throw Robin Van Persie, Gael Clichy or Bacary Sagna into the equation.

Now, Arsenal could do with a player in Melo’s mould – i.e, a decent defensive midfielder to compliment Fabregas – so if I were Arsene Wenger (and if this swap deal is actually on the table) then I would be sorely tempted to let Gael Clichy leave in return for the Brazilian.

Of the three, Clichy is definitely the most expendable to Arsenal as, when fit, Kieran Gibbs looks like a perfectly decent replacement for the French left back and Armand Traore could provide adequate cover when needed.

However, my tactic would be to melt a Viennetta over Emmanuel Eboue’s head and try to convince Juventus that he’s Bacary Sagna.

    Fail.

Melo is overrated. Song is better. No way Wenger would let any of the above go in a swap. they’re all on long contracts and worth more than Melo anyway.

There’s no way I’d want Eboue to leave. He cops a lot of flack but he’s very good cover for Sagna and I’d argue that he is a far better winger than Walcott.

I don’t understand. Did Juventus mean that they’d swap Melo and Buffon for one of the above, or are they simply delusional? The cheapest of Clichy, Sagna and RvP is worth minimum 30 million, so why would Arsenal swap one of them for a player worth maximum of half that?

    melo for denilson
now that sounds like a fair swap
    sagna/eboue
sagna maybe but eboue no way never

I love Clichy but I’d be willing to let him go for Melo, simply because we have cover. I’d be more worried about replacing the aging Billy Gallas and Sol Campbell. I know we have Djourou coming back, but suppose he or Verm get injured (almost a given), who then?

no eboue no clichy no sanga no thanks . u want us to swap our players for a flop ? i think not

  7. ham says:

Arsene might, just might swap Fran Merida or Denilson or Fabianski for Melo. But not Clichy, Sagna or RVP. He’d maybe swap RVP for Melo, Buffon, Cannavaro, Trezeguet and Diego.

No wait I don’t think he’d do that either. RVP is worth way more than those 5 put together.

Wenger should not make any deal. Instead denilson should be swaped with melo.
