We’re not overly sure what to make of this, but The Telegraph are reporting this morning that Chelsea have agreed a deal to sell David Luiz to PSG for a truly astronomical fee of somewhere around the £40million-mark.
Elsewhere, several other papers are also running with the story and are quoting a price-tag closer to £50million. Fifty. Million. Pounds.
This from the Tele:
“Chelsea have agreed to sell David Luiz to Paris St. Germain for a fee which could approach £40million, and may make the shaggy-haired Brazilian the most expensive defender in the world.
“The two clubs are currently in negotiations over the precise fee but the London club are satisfied the offer from PSG will be too valuable to turn down, and have agreed in principle to the sale, which both sides would like to conclude this weekend.”
Apparently the fee has been driven up by the continued presence of Barcelona, who are also hovering with the intent of procuring Luiz themselves.
There is also talk that PSG will return to Chelsea’s car-boot sale stall after the World Cup with hefty bids for Oscar and Eden Hazard too.
