Although I’ve not seen it reported anywhere else yet, The Times are claiming that Brazilian midfielder Sandro has agreed a £9 million deal with Tottenham Hotspur and will officially join the club at the end of summer.

Sandro will remain at his current club Internacional whilst they compete in the Copa Libertadores in August, then immediately fly over to join his new team mates for the start of the 2010/11 Premier League season.

The deal will also see a ‘player partnership’ put in place between the two clubs which will see Internacional sending youth players to Tottenham who will in turn provide marketing and management help to the Brazilian club.

What you reckon Spurs fans? Where do you see Sandro (a combative holding player by trade) fitting into your already fairly over-stocked midfield?

Over-stocked midfield? I don’t think so somehow. We have just 1 midfielder comparable to Sandro – & that’s Wilson. Look at Manchester City’s midfield & tell me Tottenham’s is “over-stocked”.

  2. Overstocked???!
We have Palacios as our top midfielder, Sandros seems to be a player in the same mould.
Jenas is good for nthing and must be sold this summer. That leaves us with Huddlestone as number 3. So even with the Sandro signing we really need another midfielder unless we are going to give O´Hara a place on the bench next season – something he has said he is not going to be content with.
If Bale starts playing on the left then we may play Modric in CM but this is not ideal when we are away from home against physical teams so overstocked is something we are not.

Ok maybe ‘well-stocked’ would have been a more appropriate phrasing.

In Palacios, Jenas, Modric, Huddlestone, Bentley, Lennon, Krancjar, Bale and now Sandro (not to mention the loanees and the youngsters on the fringes of the first team like O’Hara, Taarabt, Dos Santos, Rose etc.) – there’s an awful lot of decent players vying for limited positions.

Now, it is more than likely that some of these players will move on in the summer (O’Hara/Dos Santos, maybe even Jenas) but you’ve got to agree, there’s still an awful lot of midfield talent at the Lane.

I’m glad to finally see the deal go through. I agree Jenas must be sold, and if you look at our midfield now you will see its not over-stocked, no bentley, lennon, o’hara and jenas. Dos Santos, Taarabt and Rose are young but no doubt they will become great players. I would love to see Modric and Lennon on the wings, Palacios and Sandro in the centre with Bale supporting the left flank forcing Modric to play in front of Sandro and Palacios.

    Bale?? Full back not midfielder.

How Spuds managed to ruin someone with such potential as Dos Santos I will never understand. Even Barca rejects can turn out diamonds. Take Geovanni for example. He ain’t half bad.

    Oh, Sandro? Who’s that?

i think we should switch to diamond formation and starting causing trouble for the big teams and i thinh harry should the young players chance he should give dos santos adel taarbt and janie o’hara a we have a good team we can attack our defenders can attacks our midfield and our strikes can attack.i heard in sky sport news that lennon back on traning and we have three diffecult games in the row we miss lennon in the pitch so he will causing problems for arsenal chelsea man utd i am sure we are capable of beatin those three teams

We’re really playing well. I do not know who’s Sandro, but I trust Harry’s judgement. When is the brilliant Taarabt going to get a chance to show what he can do? When he played in South Africa for Spurs, he was a gem on the field!
