After a disappointing 14/15 campaign, Spurs boss Mauricio Pohettino is eager to beef up his misfiring squad, with Everton’s Kevin Mirallas on the Argentine’s shopping list acccoring to the Mirror.
The £15m-rated Belgian has only one year left on his current contract with the Toffees and is believed to be ready to leave Merseyside.
The Lilywhites are keen to use winger Aaron Lennon as a sweetener in the deal, with the former England man currently enjoying a good loan spell with the Toffees. Oddly enough, Lennon has recently been keeping Mirallas out of Roberto Martinez’s starting 11. However, Tottenham are still willing to offer a permanent deal for Lennon plus cash for the signing of Mirallas. Although the reported interest of Atletico Madrid in the wideman could be a fly in Tottenham’s ointment.
The 27-year-old Mirallas is indeed a fine player on his day, as shown by his winning goal against Burnley on Saturday. But one wonders if he’s at the kind of level Spurs need to be aiming for if they are to make serious in-roads into the top-four next season.
Still, file this one under ‘definite possibility’.
