Newcastle United released a slew of players back into the wild yesterday with the likes of Jonas Gutierrez and Ryan Taylor all leaving the club.
Also set free was young Adam Campbell, not that the midfielder – who joined the club as a 7-year-old – had the foggiest idea he was out of a job.
In fact, it would appear that Campbell, 20, only found out he had been released after happening across the news on Twitter.
Campbell’s girlfriend Rosie Moorhouse tweeted the following missive (before hastily deleting it):
“Adam has never been told [about his release] officially, nice to find out through Twitter. #disrespect”
She then added:
Bloody zero-hour contracts, eh? More trouble than they’re worth.
