The improbable Barcelona-to-Stoke City transfer migration path has been trodden once again this afternoon with the news that Ibrahim Afellay has joined the Potters on a two-year deal.

Marc Muniesa, Bojan Krkic and recent arrival Moha El Ouriachi have all swapped the Camp Nou for the Britannia of late as Mark Hughes continues to change the entire footballing ethos of the once-lumpy Premier League side.

Afellay is now the fourth player to make the same move…

On paper, Afellay has been at Barca for the last four-and-a-half years, though he only actually made nine starts for the Catalan giants in that time – with roughly 50% of the Dtuch international winger’s total tenure spent on loan at Schalke and Olympiakos.

He’s bloody good, we know this. Whether he fancies it or not is quite another matter.

  1. Straight Dave says:

Could he do it on a cold, rainy Wednesday night at Stoke, though?

  2. Chris says:

Mark Hughes using his past Barca affiliations to the max. Or is it the oodles of cash?

    Farked if i know.

Nailed on star in the PL. Straight in my FF team. Stoke are looking good. I fear for top 7 as a Saints fan at the moment.

Oh please, what next? ‘Stoke sign world cup winner’ because the new tea lady’s cousins mothers uncles goldfishes brother is loosely related to Bebeto’s nans uncles albino mute donkey?! Did Ourachi ever kick a ball for Barca? How many minutes did Muniesa play, 12? Thats about twice as many as Afelafel. (Still, I do look forward to “Barcelona B” teaching Arsenal a lesson. Again. Thats always amusing.)
