Competition for places amid Real Madrid’s youth teams is notoriously tough, with dozens of not-quite-up-to-scratch youngsters finding themselves cut loose season to season.
Young Finnish striker Eero Markkanen is one such case, with the 24-year-old forward (nicknamed ‘The Tank’ due to his 6ft 5in frame) now in the process of finding himself a new club after being released by Zinedine Zidane’s Castilla side over the summer.
Indeed, it was reported that Markkanen was given the old heave-ho after reporting for pre-season some 18kgs overweight.
However, he rather splendidly chose to refute those claims on Twitter over the weekend with a cracking jibe aimed in Real’s direction…
