On a day where Leicester City enjoyed a magnificent 3-1 win at the Etihad Stadium, the news got even better for the club, with star-striker Jamie Vardy penning a new contract with the Premier League leaders which keeps him at the King Power Stadium until 2019.
The 29-year-old, who joined Leicester from Fleetwood Town for £1million back in 2012, has blossomed into one of the country’s most dangerous strikers, becoming the first-player ever to score in 11 consecutive Premier League fixtures.
Now, the fleet-footed forward has pledged his future to the club in a deal which will see his weekly wage jump from £45,000 to £80,000 a week. Vardy tweeted the good news after the win over Man City…
Great 3 points, boys on form as always, also delighted to have signed a new deal with the club #lcfc

Here’s the statement from the Foxes, with Vardy quotes…
Vardy’s superb form will no doubt have made him a target for a number of heavyweight Premier League sides. However, with the Foxes fighting for the title themselves, they’ve been able to keep hold of one of their most prized assets.
Although, one wonders if a megabucks bid in the summer will test the resolve of both the player and his club.
