sidwell.JPGThe worst kept secret in football since Jose Mourinho and Ashley Cole thought they would get a quiet cuppa together has at last being confirmed. Reading midfielder Steve Sidwell will be sidling his way to Stamford Bridge quicker than you can say Jean-Marc Bosman.
The 24-year-old former Arsenal trainee has had his big move rubberstamped after passing a medical. No details of his contract have been released, but he is likely to be getting paid more than £25,000 a week he was offered to keep him at the Madejski. Are we looking at a genuine Chelsea first-teamer, or is Sidwell going to find himself in the sizeable shadow of Fat Frank?

    £53,000 a week.

Career suicide. He’ll be best mates with SWP, Cudicini and Diarra before october.

Its probably not the best of moves. Competing for two places with Lampard, Ballack, Diarra, Makelele, and Mikel is never going to be easy. At least Chelsea bought a promising domestic talent rather than a fading foreign mercinary.
