Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of Southampton’s Victor Wanyama for a very reasonable £11million, with the Kenyan penning a five-year deal.

The tough-tackling midfielder will reunite with his former boss Mauricio Pochettino after three years at St. Mary’s which saw the 24-year-old rack up 85 top-flight appearances and bag four goals.

Wanyama moved to Southampton from Celtic in 2011 from Belgian club Germinal Beerschot but now he’ll form a pretty tasty midfield with the Lilywhite alongside Moussa Dembele and Dele Alli.

On leaving Saints, Wanyama wrote on the club website:

It is very emotional for me to say goodbye to the club that gave me the chance to be the first Kenyan to play in Premier League.

I will never forget my time in Southampton Football Club, I will keep club forever in my heart.

After pushing eventual champions Leicester City all the way in the top-flight last season, Spurs will be eager to build on that creditable third-place (albeit still behind rivals Arsenal), with Wanyama the Lilywhites’ first purchase of the summer.

    He doesn’t exactly look thrilled…

Why are Spurs signing him? Is Dier leaving? I don’t get this.

I dare say as Spurs will be competing in Champions League. Dier can not play 60 games in the season. I’d also wager Mason and Bentaleb are about to Brexit too.
