He may not be the A-Grade striker Arsenal fans have been hoping for, but Japanese hitman Takuma Asano is, for now anyway, Arsene Wenger’s only attacking purchase this summer. On Sunday, he lined out for Sanfrecce Hiroshima for the very last time, in the J-League clash with Yokohama F.Marinos.

After the game, which ended 2-2, the 21-year-old gave an emotional farewell speech, struggling to hold in his tears even before he got to speak…

Now, unfortunately Japanese isn’t our strong point, but we can safely say that young Takuma was rather sad to be leaving Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

The question remains, however, if the striker will play any meaningful part in the Gunners’ 2016/17 season, or will he fail to make the grade in north London like his fellew countrymen Junichi Inamoto and Ryo Miyaichi.
