Strapped for cash following a tumultuous takeover period, Notts County have resorted to desperate measures in order to bring in January reinforcements.
Indeed, the big news coming out of Meadow Lane today is that, with the club’s transfer embargo being lifted, Magpies boss Kevin Nolan has finally been able to pull off his first signing as manager… and it’s Kevin Nolan.
As confirmed by new club owner Alan Hardy, 34-year-old Nolan has completed the process of re-registering as a player meaning he is now officially part of his own squad…

Announcing the news via County’s official website, Hardy said:
It was always Kevin’s intention to register as a player and I’m delighted to confirm we have now completed the formalities.
He will of course need to continue building his fitness but, when he’s ready, I’m confident we will have one of, if not the, best midfielders in the league.
Kevin and I will continue to discuss further transfer targets and I will update fans on our progress in due course.
How lovely to see a good old fashioned player-manager at the helm.
It really does hark back to a simpler time…
Some say a better time.
