PFA tries to break Joey Barton deadlock between Man City and Newcastle

AllardyceBarton.bmpThe Professional Footballers’ Association must be used to stepping in to break up fights involving Joey Barton by now. But this time they have got themselves into a right old tussle over Barton’s proposed transfer from Manchester City to Newcastle United. The deal has reportedly stalled over a reported £300,000 owed to Barton.
In the blue corner are the City hierarchy who don’t want to pay the fee, which Barton is entitled to if he leaves the club without requesting a transfer, because they claim he was not forced to move. In the black and white corner is Big Sam Allardyce who is preparing to open a can of whoop-ass on those delaying Barton’s signature. He said: “They’re out of order. I’m flabbergasted and want the situation resolved.”

Allardyce added: “I cannot understand it because City didn’t pay anything for this player as he came through the youth system and they are selling him for over £5m. All I know is that this is a matter for Joey to sort out and I hope it is resolved as it has stopped him putting pen to paper.”
PFA official Mick McGuire said he had spoken to City’s chief executive Alistair Mackintosh, Barton and his agent and would now speak to Allardyce in a bid to reach an .amicable conclusion’ to the situation. [Via BBC Sport]
