Quite wisely, Freddy Adu has decided against joining Sandecja Nowy Sacz after receiving a less-than-affectionate welcome from the Polish side – their manager, specifically.
After hearing his team were taking Adu on trial, Sandecja boss Radosław Mroczkowski began by getting Adu’s name wrong before vehemently stating that he didn’t want to work with the former MLS starlet and that the 28-year-old wouldn’t be allowed to train with the first team.
Mroczkowski then criticised the Sandecja management for failing to build a squad properly, calling Adu an “old vacuum cleaner” in the process.
Unsurprisingly, this all seems to have put our Freddy off signing for the Poles, which he made clear in a long chain of Tweets emitted last night…
Just wanted to let everyone know that I will not be signing with sandecja. I have been in a situation like this before in Monaco and it …

Ended badly. I havnt had a chance to train or do anything with the team but I have to find the best situation for my career.

It is important to have everyone on board before signing and that’s not the case here so I’ve decided to wait for a better situation!

In the past I would sign and never get a chance to play. I do not want to make that mistake again!

Some people might try and spin this as a bad thing but I see it as a good decision because I do not want to be in the middle of this!

Was offered a contract by the same team in February and ended up passing because I didn’t feel like it was the right move at the time.

Man lol it feels like I can’t catch a break! Was excited about the opportunity but it wasn’t meant to be. Hopefully a better opp comes!

I’ve been used by too many people over the years for publicity and exposure and I am determined not to let that happen anymore!

I am glad people know the truth about what happened! Too many times the player is made to look bad by the club when in fact it’s the club!

Such is the reality of life for the thousands of transitory players plugging away at the far end of the football food chain.
As we said before, we hope Adu gets a decent break somewhere sooner rather than later. He’s overdue.
