We sincerely doubt it’s the last we’re going to hear on the matter, but PSG have this evening confirmed that Neymar is officially under their employ.

In fitting style, the Ligue 1 side formally announced the Brazilian’s arrival with a series of cheap, crudely Photoshopped images and a smattering of naff videos…

Incidentally, PSG’s Twitter feed is currently chock-full of messages from Neymar’s sponsors (Beats by Dre, Coca-Cola, EA Sports, etc), all wishing him well on his new adventure. That’s what this is really all about.

For the record, Neymar has signed a five-year deal with PSG worth £450million in total, netting himself a weekly wage of around £515,000 after tax.

He’ll score shed-loads of goals, break all Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s records and still it will all feel hopelessly hollow.

Best of luck to him.

Shed-loads of goals? As a Barça fan I’m glad to see him go. The only reason he scored as many goals as he did was the amount of chances he got, half of which he skied into the stands with his right foot from the left wing from 5 meters out. Best deal Barça has made in recent history and as long as our current administration doesn’t put the money to waste (which inevitably they will), this deal more than makes up for the 60 mil + eto’o = Ibrahimovic deal of 2009. I actually feel a bit sick. The transfer fee along with the whole sorry saga is just repugnant and distasteful beyond belief. I’m so glad I’m a Port Vale fan. It might not be sexy and glamorous but at least it’s honest and fucking genuine. The day modern football finally ate itself?

  3. Beano says:

I’d rather transfer sagas like this than players taking absurd salaries to play in Russia or China, never to be heard from again

  4. Me says:

I think 50m for KYLE WALKER is much crazier than 200m for Neymar. That’s the day football died, not yesteday.

    • Beano says:

Yup, honestly, so many of the English transfers are much worse

Like a EFL Championship bound team spending over 50 Mil combined on Martin Braithwaite and the ghost of Britt Assombalonga…
